Complete the Cycle of Stress

We have survived as a species by developing a nervous system that allows us to quickly access and react to danger - "Run, it's a lion!" Also, we started associating the feeling of relaxation with safety, "I'm in the cave, I'm OK"

Fight/Flight - Relax - the cycle of stress was completed.

These days, we can't run (or fight!!!) when we see our unpleasant colleague or manager, but we still have an ancient nervous system that seeks safety.

What we call self-care may be our attempt to complete our cycle of stress.

Jogging, walking in the park, socialising, creative endeavours... These are simple activities that can help us relax and recharge.

Imagine our ancestors running and never finding a safe place to rest. Is that how it feels when we don't relax?
